In order to connect the SBC to an existing WIFI router have to add your WIFI SSID and password to your Raspberry Pi. This can be done in 2 ways.

Method 1

In the command prompt, enter the following:

sudo raspi-config

This will startup the Raspberry Pi Software Configuration Tool. Use your arrow keys to navigate to the 2nd item in the list: Network Options, then N2 Wi-fi. From here follow the prompts to enter the SSID(name) of your WIFI router and it's password.

Once you're done, navigate to 'Finish' to get back to the command prompt, and enter the following to reboot:

sudo reboot

Method 2

In the command prompt, enter the following:

sudo nano /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf

Scroll to the end of the file and add the following:

network={
   ssid=<YOUR WIFI ROUTER'S NAME>
   psk=<YOUR ROUTER'S PASSWORD>
}

Save and close by pressing 'Ctrl+X' and then 'Y'. You'll be returned to the command prompt, and your Raspberry Pi should connect. You can check to see if it's connected by entering:

ifconfig wlan0

If you see an IP address, then you're connected. Make note of IP address, as it's the address of your Raspberry Pi and you'll need it in order to login via SSH.

If you don't see this, reboot your Raspberry Pi:

sudo reboot
